REPRESENTING of Daya Pelita Kasih (DPK) Center especially in Visual Art Class, recently Diego Luister Berel has participated in solo painting exhibition to show some of his painting collections held by the Cheshire Indonesia Foundation at the Biennial General Meeting of the East Asia and Pacific Regional Council (EAPacRC) of Cheshire Homes held in Magzi Ballroom, Grand Kemang Hotel, Jakarta.
There are about 60 foreign guests from countries of East Asia and the Pacific were present at this event as from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Papua New Guinea to discuss progress and challenges in efforts to improve the lives of disabilities.
Although he has a developmental disorder (Down Syndrome), Diego fell in love with painting while attending his school, he has taken part in several painting exhibitions organized by DPK Center and one of his painting was auctioned by Sotheby’s Jakarta at the Indonesia Peduli Anak charity event held by the Minsitry of Trade in 2015. The proceeds went to several elementary schools in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
Some of Diego’s recent works depict colorful human life, aesthetic nature and characteristics of all his paintings are the various colors, whichhe creates using the classic palette knife and brush. His paintings are still categorized as ‘green’, as he continues to explore and experiment the beauty of contemporary art. [red]
